As first reported by multiple Spanish news outlets, Diego Simeone  will remain Atletico Madrid's manager for the foreseeable future, as he signed a contract extension with los colchoneros that will keep the experienced Argentine skipper in Madrid for three more years until 2024.

Simeone enters his 11th season as manager for Atletico, and last season he won La Liga title with them. Since he has been with the club, they have managed to win La Liga twice, with the first coming in 2013-2014, after 18 years of futility. Also, Atletico has won two Europa League trophies with Simeone at the helm, one in his first year as coach in 2011-2012 and again in 2013-2014. More importantly, los colchoneros have been a constant presence challenging for the title in Spain as well as Champions League participants, reaching the final in 2015-2016, where they were beaten by city rivals Real Madrid.

Overall, Simeone has managed 527 matches while at the club, with a win percentage of 60% and losing just 16% of them, a ratio worthy of any great coah in World football.
