As reported by American newspaper Los Angeles Times and confirmed by the club's Twitter account, Los Angeles Galaxy have reached an agreement with Mexican-American winger Efrain Alvarez on a contract extension.

The young talent signed a two-year extension with an option for a third year with the MLS club, which will see him tied to the club until 2024. Just 19 years of age, Alvarez came through Galaxy's youth sector, and has been with the senior squad since 2019. In that time, he appeared in 39 matches across all competitions, scoring two goals in the process.

The winger is currently away with the Mexican team, as El Tri is playing in the Gold Cup, amidst interest from some European clubs, chief among them Juventus and Tottenham. Galaxy will now benefit from player control if Alvarez does end up in Europe, and the MLS club can ask for a fair price for the player in that case.
