OFFICIAL: Hearts of Oak forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh signs contract extension

In-demand Hearts of Oak forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has extended his contract with the club.

Despite failing to disclose contract details, the Phobians has announced the 2022 World Cup star has extended his stay at the club.

This come as huge boost for the reigning FA Cup holders who were at risk of losing the forward on a free transfer.

A statement from the club reads,

“The Management of Accra Hearts of Oak: PLC is pleased to announce to our teaming followers that Danici Afriyie Barnich has extended his contract with the club”

Afriyie Joined Hearts 3 seasons ago and has since developed into a top talent which has seen him play very important and leading roles in Ghana's various national teams including the Under-20 team, the Under-23 team, Black Galaxies and the main Black Stars team.

He was part of Ghana's squad that played at the 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar. He has also won several titles with Hearts of Oak which includes, the Premiership title, FA Cup title and the President's Cup.

Meanwhile, local media reports suggest Afriyie Barnieh has completed a transfer move to Swiss top-flight side FC Zurich and is expected to join after the CHAN tournament.

The highly-rated footballer is currently with the Black Galaxies.

Afriyie Barnieh signed for Hearts in July 2019 and went ahead to become a mainstay in the team having played integral role in the club's double triumph in the 2020-21 campaign.

The former Ghana U20 captain cut in the Black Stars' final squad for the global showpiece and was instrumental in the last warm-up friendly match against Switzerland in Abu Dhabi.
