The 1992 Afcon tournament, held in Senegal, was a great moment for Ghanaian football.

The Black Stars had a strong showing, finishing in third place, with defender Emmanuel Ampiah playing a crucial role in the team's success.

However, despite promises from officials that the players would receive rewards for their efforts, Ampiah and his teammates were disappointed when they did not receive the promised incentives.

"Before we left the government did not say anything to us but when we returned Bank of Ghana said we did well so we will give you some money. They gave us the money but those that received the money did not give it to us. Lotteries gave us money other companies gave us money," he told Dan Kwaku Yeboah TV

"So they told us to meet at the stadium on a certain day so we went there in the morning thinking they were going to share the money with us. We stood there till 4:00 o'clock that time we were set to return to Kumasi so luckily Kwesi Appiah's car was a van and we all pack ourselves into it and left. They haven't given us the money to date,"
