Ogbonna: Why Arnautovic so good for West Ham defence

Published on: 16 December 2017

West Ham defender Angelo Ogbonna has sung the praise of Marko Arnautovic as a centre-forward.

The 28-year-old then impressed up front alongside Michail Antonio with a man-of-the-match performance in the goalless draw at home to Arsenal on Wednesday.

And Ogbonna admits that Arnautovic's pace but, crucially, his ability to not concede possession higher up the pitch is allowing West Ham's new five-man defence to "breathe" easier during games.

Speaking to the London Evening Standard, the Italian centre-back said: "I knew him [Arnautovic] before and it's good for us if our strikers or the forwards can run like Marko or like Antonio.

"They can keep the ball and let us breathe."
