One day I will tell my side of the story – Felix Annan insists after losing spot to Kwame Baah

After playing second fiddle to goalkeeper Kwame Baah during the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League season, Felix Annan says he will one day tell his side of the story.

The highly-rated shot-stopper was the man in the post for Asante Kotoko in the first few games of the season but lost his place after missing a game to get married to his sweetheart.

In what has created tension and controversy, it appears there is more to the story which led to Felix Annan losing his position as the first-choice goalkeeper of the Porcupine Warriors club.

In an interview with Tropical Radio in Germany, Felix Annan has explained why clean sheets alone cannot be the basis for him to lose his spot on the starting eleven of the team.

“[Keylor] Navas got injured in PSG’s UEFA Champions League game against Atlanta in the quarterfinals but he reclaimed his place after being passed fit and went on to play in the final against Bayern Munich although second goalkeeper [Sergio] Rico kept a clean sheet and helped the club win against Leipzig in the semifinals”, he said.

Annan continued, “If it was in our country [Ghana], they would’ve told Navas that his replacement had a clean sheet so he should continue to stay on the bench. These are some of the things I hear in Ghana in my situation and I smile”.

He further added that one day he will open up and tell his side of the story.

“I won’t talk too much because of the respect I have for the fans of Asante Kotoko and the love they’ve shown me in these difficult times. I appreciate it but I will have my time to tell the world my side of the story.

“If we are doing things right we should do things right because I kept asking myself that why is it that after each game there is a conversation about me, why is it so?

“That means there is a problem if there is no problem there won’t be a conversation but I (Felix Annan) will not give up until the world is over”, Felix Annan concluded.
