Otto Addo was a disappointment at the World Cup - GFA ExCO member Frederick Acheampong

Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association [GFA], Frederick Acheampong has criticized Otto Addo following the country's elimination from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Addo, who masterminded the Black Stars' qualification to the Mundial failed to qualify the team for the next round of the tournament.

Ghana picked up three points after three games to finish at the bottom of Group H.

The Borussia Dortmund talent coach has resigned from his role after the country's poor performance at the global showpiece in the Gulf country.

However, Acheampong reacting to the Black Stars' poor performance slammed Otto Addo saying he was a disappointment at the tournament.

According to him, they were made to believe that he was the right option to lead the team for the Mundial.

"We all admit that the team did not do well at the World Cup before you say anything and so I agree with the statement by the Ghana Football Association [GFA]," the AshantiGold SC CEO said on Kessben FM.

"We all wanted to win the trophy but the expectation was that we wanted to do better compared to the last World Cup but the coach [Otto Addo]was a disappointment.

"Some of us had believed in him but we did not see what we were told. What we were told never manifested," he added.

Meanwhile, the country's football governing are yet to name Otto Addo's successor. Many have tipped Chris Hughton who served as the technical advisor to take up the mantle.
