Our poor form worries me - Karela United coach Shaibu Tanko

Published on: 06 November 2023

In a candid admission of concern, Karela United coach Shaibu Tanko has expressed unease over his team's lackluster performance in the ongoing 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.

Following a 1-1 draw against formidable rivals Hearts of Oak on match day nine at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, Tanko's worries were further amplified as Karela United continues to languish in the 16th position on the league table, amassing a mere 9 points from 9 games.

On match day nine Emmanuel Boakye Owusu gave Karela United the lead in the 10th minute. Hamza Issah scored in the 40th minute to save Accra Hearts of Oak from defeat.

This disappointing run of form has left Tanko and his squad searching for answers as they strive to turn their fortunes around in the fiercely competitive league.

"Definitely the team will be under pressure to deliver because to whom much is given much is expected," he said after the game.

"I am really very worried because we needed the three points to leap from wherever we find ourselves," he added.
