Patric Pfeiffer hopeful of making Black Stars squad for September AFCON qualifiers

Augsburg center-back Patric Pfeiffer is optimistic that he would make the Black Stars squad for the September 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

This was after he confirmed that the necessary procedures have now been completed, paving the way for him to represent Ghana at the senior level.

The 24-year-old's decision, initially announced by the Ghana Football Association two years ago alongside four other players, encountered delays that postponed his eligibility for selection.

Pfeiffer is now looking forward to playing for Ghana in two months when the team assembles to kick off their AFCON qualifying journey against Angola and Niger on September 3 and 6, respectively.

“A few weeks ago I was in Ghana and now I have my passport,” the Germany youth international said, as quoted by IdiskiTimes.

“I hope in September I can get a call-up. I know the coach, Otto Addo because he was the coach of Hamburg in the youth team [where I played].

“I have good contacts with him. I wanted to join the Black Stars before but I didn’t have my passport, but now it’s done and I’m ready.”

Last season, Patric Pfeiffer made just eleven appearances in the Bundesliga because of recurring injuries.

He was born in Hamburg but of Ghanaian descent.
