Former Arsenal midfielder, Paul Merson, has praised Thomas Partey as the best holding midfielder in the Premier League alongside Manchester United's Casemiro.
The Ghanaian has been instrumental in Arsenal's title charge this season, with his latest performance inspiring the Gunners to a 3-2 comeback win over Bournemouth on Saturday.
Merson believes that Partey's fitness is crucial to Arsenal's title hopes, stating, "I think they have someone in Jorginho to come on and step in.
“I would say Thomas Partey needs to be there. I wouldn't say Jorginho to play ten on the trot. But to come in and do a good job."
Merson also highlighted the special qualities of the 28-year-old, describing him as "a very special player."
He added, "I think he is the best holding midfield player around, at the moment. Him and Casemiro, if I am being honest."
Partey’s performances have earned him rave reviews, with many pundits and fans alike tipping him to play an influential role if Arsenal can hold on and win the title.
The 29-year-old has featured in 21 league games for Arsenal this season, starting 19 of them and scoring three goals.
