Kumasi Asante Kotoko captain, Felix Annan has noted that players will be motivated to stay in Ghana for at least four years if they are paid a minimum salary of $1000 a month.

The West African country is known for producing talented footballers who end up being exported to other parts of the world.

Unlike in the past where players moved to Europe and the well-known sporting countries, the trend looks to have changed with most of the players now heading to some of the weirdest places.

As the conversation on how to reduce player exodus continue, Felix Annan has indicated that paying players well should be considered.

“Ghana has a lot of talent and if players are paid a minimum of $1000 then the players will be able to stay for about four to five years before leaving abroad”, the Black Stars asset indicated in a recent interview.

He added, “If the players also stay in the league for long, we will be able to compete with clubs from other countries that we have always wanted”.

Annan is enduring a difficult spell in the Ghana Premier League this season after missing most of Kotoko's games before the campaign was suspended. He is now reportedly set to leave the club with South Africa looking like the likely destination.
