Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says he loves striker Sergio Aguero because of his passion.

Aguero has been linked with a move away from the Etihad after falling behind wonderkid Gabriel Jesus, but the forward is City's leading forward yet again after the Brazilian's injury and Aguero has made a fine return to form, scoring four goals in his past two games.

Guardiola has fielded numerous questions regarding the future of Aguero but revealed he was very impressed with the former Atletico Madrid man's performance during the midweek FA Cup replay against Huddersfield.

I love the way he played. How he was angry, for example, with the decisions of the referee. How he reacted," Guardiola toldthe Daily Star.

How he was involved not just in scoring goals but in the way we play. That's why I said it was the best performance. He was shouting at Pablo Zabaleta when he was not happy with one pass. That desire. When that happens Sergio really is an unbelievable player.

Not just in the box. In all terms. That's why we were so happy. And I know that he is happy despite what people say. I know he is so happy.

Guardiola also remained hopeful over the fitness of centre-back Vincent Kompany, who has made just six appearances in all competitionsthis season.

That's what we want, what he wants, definitely. I'm optimistic. A whole season. Why not? I'm pretty sure that will happen.

City continue their Premier League campaign against Sunderland on Sunday before they travel to Middlesbrough next week for their FA Cup quarter-final.
