Petit warns Arsenal fans: Removing Wenger won\'t solve anything unless...

Arsenal hero Emmanuel Petit says dumping manager Arsene Wenger won't improve results.

Instead, he believes the Gunners need to do better in the transfer market.

He told Paddy Power: “If you change Arsene, put someone else in his position, I'm not sure if it will be the solution. The solution is in the transfer market.

“I won't say money buys you trophies, but it helps you compete. If Arsenal want to compete then they have to spend money, be intelligent and also be careful on the profile of the player – not just their quality but also their desire, their commitment, their personality.

“If they don't qualify for the Champions League, it will be two years in a row and if you play for Arsenal then it is something that is unacceptable. If you look at Arsenal, they are not improving any more.

“I can imagine the frustration for Arsene, for the players and the fans. I am one of them, to be honest, I don't know if Arsene will keep on going at the end of the season, but the Europa League represents the only chance they have to play the Champions League next season.

“But when you look at the competition, there are so many big clubs from the European leagues. So even that's not for sure.

“I hope Arsenal win the Europa League, but if they don't do that then next season will be the same as this season. This is not a good message."
