PHOTO: John Terry Preparing for Potential Coaching Future With Training Notes

After the recent back-to-back retirements of Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard, it will be sad to see another England legend wave goodbye to football. However, John Terry is 36 years old now and has only featured in Chelsea's straightforward FA Cup games recently.

At least his future career seems to be lined up, and it is unsurprisingly similar to those being pursued by the others, particularly Gerrard. Terry is making detailed notes which could be used effectively in coaching, as he revealed on Instagram.

There are lots of complicated diagrams and tactical moves on those notes, but most familiar to those who have ever played the game will be the note "Runs? For the losing team."

Gerrard was even offered a managerial position at MK Dons this year, but admitted he was not ready to take it up. Should Terry decide to go ahead with that career after retirement, he might take a lower-league team to gain experience with himself.

Other famous retired players have experienced difficulty in getting their coaching careers off to a good start. Gary Neville failed dismally at Valencia and Alan Shearer was relegated with the club where he became such a hero, Newcastle.

On the other hand, at least the majority of currentPremier League managers were former players (even if they weren't world-famous on the pitch). Pep Guardiola, Mauricio Pochettino and Mark Hughes are just three who have thrived in both positions.
