PHOTO: Manchester City Unveil Official Away Match Suit With Bizarre Victorian Inspired Photograph

Published on: 27 February 2017

Manchester City have unveiled their official club away match suit, in conjunction with official fashion partners DSquared2, with a rather peculiar looking photograph.

TheManchester Evening News revealed that the club's newest club partner had produced the tailored outfits for Champions League away matches, with the first time that City's stars will sport the new attire to come during the away trip to Monaco on March 15.

The Italian fashion brand - the brainchild of brothers Dean and Dan Caten - was chosen to produce the three-piece suits.

Described as mixing "Italian sartorial construction" with a "contemporary cut" and "tailored for a modern, slim suit", the pair revealed that they had the players' comfort in mind when designing the official club suits ahead of their unveiling.

The siblings said: We wanted the players to feel as confident in this suit as they do when they pull on their team jersey.

"Every element of the Dsquared2 for Manchester City suit is designed to show modern tailoring sophistication: from its Italian refined wool fabric and the sartorial skill used in construction, and the contemporary fit, it's a statement of masculine elegance.

The club's and fashion company's decision to publish the official team photograph in black and white, however, will no doubt come in for some stick, with the image looking like something out of the Victorian era in our opinion!

@ManCity @Dsquared2 concentrate on defending instead of prancing about on photo shoots. We need to Monaco out.

Back in October, City's senior vice president of club partnerships, Damian Willoughby, explained just why DSqaured2 had been chosen to as the club's official fashion partner to manufacture and tailor future suits.

He said: Dsquared2 and Manchester City share many important brand values. We both believe in the importance of attention to detail, providing the best experience and constantly challenging ourselves to be at the top of our game.

"Throughout the partnership, we will collaborate to highlight the best features of our brands and supporters, bringing the past, present and future together.

We are all looking forward to working with Dsquared2 over the coming seasons and we know the players are very excited to begin wearing their new matchday uniforms.

DSqaured2, who are known for their tailoring ability and innovative denim, signed a multi-year contract with City on October 19.
