PHOTO: Reds Outcast Seen in London Ahead of Possible Palace Deadline Switch But Deal May Not Happen

Published on: 30 January 2017

Transfer deadline day. The one (well, two days) every year when football fans and Sky Sports lose their collective minds over every conceivable rumour they can get their hands on.

Thanks to Twitter, supporters often hear about news - official or otherwise - via the medium of social media. And that includes those accounts that try to take full advantage of gullible fans by trolling them with fake bids, speculation and conjecture.

The Redmen TV, one of Liverpool's biggest unofficial Twitter fan accounts, took to their page to post an image of Reds defender Mamadou Sakho, who is allegedly in London ahead of a possible deadline day switch to Crystal Palace. For once, it appears that such a move could, in fact, be true judging by the surroundings:

BREAKING NEWS EXCLUSIVE : Just seen Sakho in London Euston - he never said were he was going but I did speak to him and wish him luck!!! pic.twitter.com/BJj0Y1PbuC

Yep, there's a London Underground logo on the wall behind Sakho, which lends credence to him being in the capital. Considering Palace are based in London, it would be safe to assume he's off for a medical ahead of a potential move.

Of course, this could just be an image from another one of Sakho's visits to London, but we're willing to give it the benefit of the doubt for now. With so many Chinese whispers floating around today, let's hope this one has concrete legs.

However, by the same token, if reports are to be believed, the deal could now be hanging in the balance with Liverpool insistent that Palace find £20m to sign the defender and Sakho seeking in excess of his current £105k-per-week wage to join the Eagles.
