PHOTO: Replays Show Wayne Rooney Wrongfully Claimed to Have Seen Mings' Stamp on Ibrahimovic

Wayne 'eyes in the back of his head' Rooney has been left red-faced after he wrongfully told the reporters that he witnessed the controversial incident between Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Having become embroiled in a tussle for much of the first-half, the two players clashed twice in a matter of minutes when Mings was seen stamping on Ibrahimovic's head, before the Swede got his retribution by elbowing the Cherries' defender moments later.

Whilst the FA have launched an investigation into the incident and whether both men's actions were deliberate, United's captain made his feelings clear after the match when he suggested toreportersthat he had seen Mings' actions and deemed them to be worthy of punishment.

Rooney said: "The referee didn't see Tyrone Mings try to stamp on Zlatan's head, but I was there. It's wrong, in football that's wrong. I'm sure there will be punishment after the game."

I don't understand how there is a debate on the "intent" of Mings Stamp. He 100% meant to do it. Just as Zlatan meant to elbow him

"People will have their own opinions on that but the one I've seen... I've been on the end of studs to the head and it's not right, I'm sure it will be looked at and the right punishment will be taken."

Whilst there is no doubting that Rooney was present at the incident, many have now questioned the striker's opinion seeing as he falsely claimed to have seen the alleged stamp.

Rooney did in fact appear to have his back turned when Mings' boot came down on Ibrahimovic's face and seeing as the match was being broadcast live on Sky Sports, viewers were quick to take to Twitter to ridicule the 31-year-old's comments.

Rooney may be past his best, but his eyesight is remarkable. Had his back to Mings as he stamped on Zlatan...still upset by it! #MUNBOU pic.twitter.com/GxBiMlCxHD

Whilst the FA might be thinking twice about an eyewitness account from the all-seeing, all-knowing Rooney, at least we can be assured that he would make a top Premier League manager one day with his superbly selective eyesight.
