Player improvement key to building a good team - CK Akonnor

Black Stars Coach CK Akonnor revealed during an interview that improving individual national team players will be a major priority during his time with the Black Stars.

Akonnor, former Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak Coach was appointed coach of the Black Stars team earlier this year following the expiration of the contract of former Coach Kwasi Appiah.

With the COVID-19 pandemic halting all football activities and uncertainty surrounding when international matches can resume, C.K. Akonnor is still focused on how he can help improve the team he captained as a player.

Speaking on Citi TV’s Football Made in Ghana Show, he said that working on improving individual players remains a key goal.

“I am looking forward to try as much as much as I can to improve individual players and of course once I do that, I improve the team,” he told Citi TV.

“The team gets an improvement it affects their play,"

“That is my goal…so every now and then when I am there I am thinking who can fit in in certain positions and how we can move,"

“Overall I just want to improve the team,” he concluded.

C.K. Akonnor has had stints with local clubs like Dreams FC, AshantiGold SC and Eleven Wise.
