Player Power Wins at Leicester as Favourite Post-Match Snack Returns to the Menu

Published on: 08 February 2017

Leicester City players celebrated their FA Cup fourth round replay win over Derby Countywith post-match chicken in the dressing room. But there is potentially more to this simple fact than meets the eye afterreports earlier this weekspoke of internal unrest.

It was said that aside from feeling frustrated with regularly changing tactics and line-ups, the polar opposite of last season, players had also been left unhappy that popular post-match chicken burgers, an apparent staple of 2015/16,were replaced with pasta for 2016/17.

But as the Foxes rejoiced after booking their place in the fifth round of the cup, left-back Christian Fuchs took to Twitter brandishing chicken. It wasn't quite a chicken burger, rather it was in kebab form on a skewer, but it was definitely chicken.

"Chicken is back on the menu," he wrote, followed by his standard#NoFuchsGiven.

For a team that wasrewarded with things like pizza last season and yet ultimately still cruised to a stunning triumph in the end, maybe simple pleasures like chicken burgers (now kebabs after an obvious compromise) are just that important to any continued success they have.

Perhaps Kasper Schmeichel's honest interview at the weekend, in which words such as 'unacceptable' and 'embarrassing' were used, struck a chord.

Maybe Claudio Ranieri and his staffhave decided to strip it all back and returnto how things were this time last year, and maybe that means Leicester will nowbe able toturn thecorner.
