Playing against Messi gives you the energy to show yourself – Joseph Paintsil

Ghana international Joseph Paintsil has shared his excitement after featuring against Argentina legend Lionel Messi.

Paintsil shared the pitch with the record Ballon d’Or holder when LA Galaxy locked horns with Inter Miami in the Major League Soccer.

The Black Stars winger played excelled on his debut for LA Galaxy in their 1-1 stalemate at the Dignity Health Sports Park.

Paintsil initiated the attack to help LA Galaxy opened the scoring in the 75th minute through Dejan Joveljic but record Ballon d’Or holder Lionel Messi scored in injury time to rescue his side from defeat.

After the game, the Black Stars forward highlighted the importance of playing against the former Barcelona star.

“Playing against Messi and the rest is kind of something that always give you the energy to always show yourself. Playing against these fantastic players doesn’t make you afraid but it rather gives you that boast to also show whatever you have in yourself to prove’ he said.

Painstil joined the MLS giants in February from Belgium outfit KRC Genk on a four-year deal as a Designated Player.
