Poor officiating is discouraging fans from watching Ghana Premier League games - Yusif Chibsah

Ghana football legend, Yusif Chibsah has opined that poor officiating is driving fans away from watching the Ghana Premier League.

Match officials have come under intense pressure for some decisions in the ongoing 2022/23 season.

Some have been accused of poor decisions on the field of play.

However, the former Asante Kotoko midfielder beleives fans have no interest in watching the topflight due to poor officiating.

According to him, some fans beleives the referees are not up to the task to officiate in the top flight.

"One area that I also think should be taken a look at is the officiating, it has not been the best and I think that it is another issue which is discouraging people to come to the stadium," he told Citi Sports.

"The fans think that some of the referees are not up to the task, and that is a huge factor discouraging people from watching football," he added.

Meanwhile, the matchday 30 games of the Ghana Premier League kick-off at the various stadia this weekend.

Aduana Stars sit top of the league log with 51 points.
