Ghana's 2022 World Cup opponent Portugal has lost one of their promising forwards to injury.

Pedro Neto of Wolverhampton Wanderers will have surgery to fix a ligament damage suffered against West Ham, barring him from representing Portugal at the World Cup in Qatar.

Neto hurt his ankle during Saturday's game against West Ham and had to leave the field in the 24th minute.

And the medical staff of Wolverhampton stated that it was determined that Neto needed an operation after undergoing tests, "which means that he will not participate in the World Cup."

Neto scored his first goal for the Portuguese national team on November 11, 2020, against Andorra, the first of seven goals scored by Portugal.

Ghana is in Group H with Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay. The Black Stars of Ghana will play Portugal on November 24th.
