Premier League Duo Face Competition From Top European Clubs for Highly-Rated Montpellier Star

Bournemouth and West Bromwich Albion face competition from clubs on the continent in their pursuit of Montpellier's Morgan Sanson, according to reports in France.

France Football claims that the Premier League duo are reportedly set to fight it out for the midfielder's signature, either in the upcoming January transfer window or next summer.

However, with Ligue 1 sides Lyon and Marseille, plus Bundesliga title challengers Borussia Dortmund, also eyeing up Sanson, the Cherries and Baggies may be priced out of a move for the highly-rated midfield man.

Sanson has been in good form for Montpellier throughout the first half of the campaign, and his displays for the 11th-placed French top flight outfit have alerted a number of clubs across Europe.

His current deal is due to expire in June 2018 and, with no contract negotiations over extending his stay having knowingly begun at this present time, the 22-year-old could depart the Stade de la Mosson at some point in the next 12 months.

Bournemouth and West Brom remain hopeful of picking up Sanson for a decent fee, with France Football declaring that the duo would like to 'host' Sanson and his representatives at the Vitality Stadium and the Hawthorns respectively in a bid to entice him to England.

Cherries boss Eddie Howe is keen to add quality to his midfield areas as the South coast club continue to cement their position in the Premier League, while Baggies counterpart Tony Pulis is eyeing reinforcements as he plots a top-half finish for the West Midlands outfit.

Whether either side could compete with the likes of Dortmund and Lyon, who regularly feature in UEFA's continental tournaments, remains to be seen, and it would likely take a gefty pay packet to convince Sanson to head to England's top flight over their more successful European rivals.

Sanson, who is adept at playing on the wing but is primarily a centre midfielder, has bagged three goals and seven assists in 20 appearances so far this season.
