Premier League Duo Reportedly Facing Fight From Clubs in France to Land Bournemouth Winger on Loan

Published on: 19 December 2016

Burnley and West Ham United face competition from clubs on the continent to take Bournemouth's Max Gradel on loan for the rest of the season.

The winger is interesting Sean Dyche and Slaven Bilic ahead of the January transfer window opening, according to The Sun, but the duo will have to fight for the signature of the pacy forward with Ligue 1 sides Marseille and Nantes also rumoured as potential destinations for Gradel.

Dyche is keen to reinforce his Burnley squad ahead of the second half of the campaign as he plots a way to keep the Clarets in England's top flight for a second successive season.

Bilic, meanwhile, is also eager to bolster his attacking ranks with a number of first-team stars suffering from loss of form and niggling injuries throughout this term.

Both sides will hope that Gradel could make the difference to their attacking forays, providing he signs for either of them, with each club registering just 16 and 19 goals respectively in their 17 league games to date.

One potential sticking point that could throw a spanner in the works in Gradel's possible call up for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

The 29-year-old's country of birth, Ivory Coast, are due to participate in the continental competition for two weeks at the very least and, providing Gradel is part of Michel Dussyer's 23-man squad, any deal for 49-times capped international could be scuppered.

Gradel only joined Bournemouth in the summer of 2015 for a fee of around £8.5m. However, the former St.Etienne man was cruelly struck down with a cruciate knee ligament injury just one month into his career at the Vitality stadium and was forced to spend six months on the sidelines.

He returned in February this year to help the Cherries stave off relegation at the first time of asking, making 10 further appearances in the final three months to add to the five he had accrued before his long injury lay off.

Gradel has featured seven times for Eddie Howe's side this term but, due to the arrival of other wingers such as Jordon Ibe and a niggling hamstring injury, has found first-team football hard to come by.
