Premier League send condolences to the family of Christian Atsu

The Premier League have sent condolences to the family of Christian Atsu.

The Ghana international was confirmed dead early hours of Saturday by his agent and club, Hataypor.

Atsu was trapped in rubble after an earthquake of 7.8 magnitude struck Turkey and Syria last week.

His body is expected to be transported to Ghana next for his burial.

"We are deeply saddened by the news Christian Atsu lost his life in the devastation of the earthquakes that have hit Turkey and Syria." the Premier League tweeted.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with Christian's family and friends and everyone affected by this tragic event."

Christian Atsu is famously remembered for winning the best player at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] where he emerged as the best player of the tournament.

He was also part of the Black Stars squad that featured at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
