Premier League team news: Injuries and suspensions update

Published on: 30 January 2018

Mark Donaldson and Craig Burley go match by match to make their picks for the coming midweek round of matches in the Premier League. TUESDAY'S GAMES

SWANSEA VS. ARSENAL

SWANSEA: Swansea will be without midfielder Renato Sanches. Sanches suffered a hamstring injury during the FA Cup fourth round draw at Notts County, and is a non-starter against the Gunners. Federico Fernandez is set to return, though, after missing the cup game because of a nose injury as Swansea look for another impressive performance after beating Liverpool a week ago.

Provisional squad: Fabianski, Nordfeldt, Roberts, Rangel, Naughton, Van der Hoorn, Naughton, Fernandez, Bartley, Mawson, Olsson, Clucas, Ki, Britton, Fer, Carroll, Ayew, Bony, Narsingh, Abraham, Dyer, Routledge, McBurnie.

ARSENAL: Henrikh Mkhitaryan is set to make his Arsenal debut. The Armenia international joined from Manchester United in exchange for Alexis Sanchez last week and is expected to feature at the Liberty Stadium. The Gunners are also boosted by the return of Olivier Giroud following a hamstring injury but fellow forward Danny Welbeck (hip) is still missing, as is Santi Cazorla (Achilles).

Provisional squad: Cech, Ospina, Mertesacker, Holding, Mustafi, Koscielny, Chambers, Monreal, Mavropanos, Debuchy, Bellerin, Nelson, Kolasinac, Maitland-Niles, Wilshere, Xhaka, Elneny, Ramsey, Ozil, Iwobi, Mkhitaryan, Giroud, Lacazette.

WEST HAM VS. CRYSTAL PALACE

WEST HAM: Arthur Masuaku starts a six-match ban for spitting. Pedro Obiang is out after suffering knee-ligament damage to add to an injury list which also includes Andy Carroll, Manuel Lanzini, Marko Arnautovic, Andre Ayew, Cheikhou Kouyate, Jose Fonte, Winston Reid and Edimilson Fernandes. But Michail Antonio (calf) and Mark Noble (foot) could return to the squad.

Provisional squad: Adrian, Hart, Collins, Ogbonna, Rice, Cresswell, Zabaleta, Byram, Noble, Burke, Cullen, Mario, Oxford, Haksabanovic, Makasi, Antonio, Hernandez, Martinez.

CRYSTAL PALACE: Crystal Palace again have Mamadou Sakho, Yohan Cabaye and Joel Ward available for selection. The Eagles remain, however, without Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Jeffrey Schlupp, both owing to ankle injuries, and Scott Dann, Jason Puncheon and Connor Wickham, who will all miss the remainder of the season because of major knee injuries. Palace recently recruited defender Jaroslaw Jach and Erdal Rakip, but neither will travel to West Ham.

Provisional squad: Hennessey, Speroni, Ward, Fosu-Mensah, Tomkins, Sakho, Kelly, Delaney, Riedewald, Van Aanholt, Souare, McArthur, Cabaye, Milivojevic, Mutch, Lee, Townsend, Zaha, Sako, Benteke.

HUDDERSFIELD VS. LIVERPOOL

HUDDERSFIELD: Huddersfield midfielder Danny Williams is an injury doubt. Williams was forced out of Saturday's FA Cup stalemate against Birmingham with a dead leg and will be assessed, but centre-half Terence Kongolo is expected to overcome a knock. Head coach David Wagner is likely to recall the likes of Aaron Mooy, Alex Pritchard, Christopher Schindler and Jonas Lossl, who did not feature at the weekend.

Provisional squad: Lossl, Coleman, Malone, Hadergjonaj, Schindler, Jorgensen, Lowe, Smith, Kongolo, Hogg, Mooy, Pritchard, Ince, Van La Parra, Depoitre, Quaner, Billing, Sabiri, Mounie.

LIVERPOOL: Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson could be in line for his first start in over a month. Henderson played half an hour in Saturday's FA Cup defeat to West Brom after four weeks out with a hamstring problem and comes into contention for a place in the starting XI. Manager Jurgen Klopp is likely to field the same squad as defender Ragnar Klavan and midfielder Adam Lallana have not recovered from muscle injuries - meaning there is unlikely to be a place for striker Daniel Sturridge.

Provisional squad: Karius, Gomez, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Salah, Firmino, Mane, Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Klavan, Lovren, Moreno, Can, Milner, Ings, Solanke, Sturridge.
