According to a new report that appeared in English newspaper The Daily Mail, West Ham have started talks to bring PSG goalkeeper Alphonse Areola back to the Premier League, after the Frenchman spent last season at Fulham.

After PSG acquired Italian standout and former A.C. Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma on a free transfer earlier this month, it seems that Areola would be relegated to a reserve position if he stays at PSG, so a move could be in his best interest. West Ham seem keen on him, as he would bring healthy competition for Lukas Fabianski, and are looking to land his services prefereably on a loan deal with option to buy.

Areola defended Fulham's goal last season 36 times, being the undisputed starter at the position. The French goalkeeper has spent multiple consecutive seasons on loan since 2013, with spells at Lens, Bastia, Villareal and Real Madrid before landing at Craven Cottage this past year, so it looks like he's no longer in PSG's plans, which could facilitate a possible negotiation.
