President Akufo-Addo consoles Chrsitian Atsu's widow, children and family

The wife, kids, and family of Ghanaian winger Christian Atsu have received consolation from President Akufo-Addo.

After many days of searching following the earthquake in Turkey on Monday of last week, the footballer was finally confirmed dead on Saturday morning.

This agent informed me in the early hours of Saturday that he had been discovered dead beneath the debris.

Atsu, who played 65 times for Ghana, scoring nine goals, enjoyed a successful career at several clubs, including Everton, Chelsea, Newcastle in England, and Porto.

President Akufo-Addo's statement reads:

“The LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away”… Job 1:21

On behalf of the Government and people of Ghana, I extend sincere, heartfelt condolences to the widow, children and family of our fellow Ghanaian, Christian Atsu, on the sad news of his death. Ghana football has lost one of its finest personnel and ambassadors, one who will be difficult to replace. He will be sorely missed.

May his soul rest in the Bosom of the Almighty until the Last Day of the Resurrection when we shall all meet again. Amen!
