Claude Puel was appointed as manager of Southampton over the summer following the departure of Ronald Koeman to Everton and it has to be said that the Frenchman has done a decent job at the St. Mary's Stadium, with the Saints currently in 8th position in the table as well as having reached the final of the EFL Cup.

However, Puel's position at Southampton has been cast into major doubt in recent weeks and now Saints' chief Ralph Krueger has admitted that the club will be assessing whether or not to retain the services of the 55-year-old next season.

Krueger said: "I of course on a personal level have a high respect and have enjoyed the season with Claude. We have all experienced ups and downs and no one person in this club is responsible for anything. We always look at the whole and football will do that at the end of the season."
