QPR SET TO SEIZE INITIATIVE IN PURSUIT OF HIGHLY-RATED GHANA STAR

Championship side Queens Park Rangers look set to seize the initiative in pursuit of Barnsley defender Andy Yiadom by making an offer for the 25-year-old, according to West London Sport.

The Ghana international only moved to Oakwell last year after impressing in a four-year stint at Barnet, playing 181 times for the Bees before leaving on a free last summer.

And the full-back has seamlessly made the step up to the Championship with several impressive displays for the Tykes, finishing the campaign with three assists in 32 league appearances to help Paul Heckingbottom’s side finish 14th in the table, seven points clear of danger.

Yet he may well have played his final game for Barnsley, as recent reports suggest that Ian Holloway’s QPR are set to follow-through their reported interest in the defender with an offer.

The Hoops finished 18th in the Championship last season and conceded 66 goals, which is a figure that simply must be addressed if they are to compete in the top half of the table next time round.

And bringing in the talented Yiadom, who can also play at left-back, would certainly go some way to strengthening their backline ahead of the new season, which for them gets underway at home to Reading on August 5.

However, with Swansea also reportedly interested in the Ghana international, it remains to be seen whether they are indeed able to land Yiadom over the coming weeks and months.
