Rains in Costa Rica affecting training of Black Princesses ahead of 2022 FIFA U20 World Cup

Preparations of Ghana’s Black Princesses in Costa Rica are not going according to plan due to persistent rains in the country ahead of the start of the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

The youth world cup will commence on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.

Ahead of the tournament, the Black Princesses have already arrived in Costa Rica where the tournament will be staged.

Unfortunately, training has been problematic in the last few days due to continuous rains in the host country.

“We have been in Costa Rica for some days now and we have had several training sessions and everything is going on well. The players are responding to training as well. The place is very cloudy as it rains everyday and it becomes difficult for the players to cope with the pitch because they easily fall to the ground,” head coach of the Ghana U20 team, Coach Ben Fokuo has revealed in an interview.

The coach added, There was too much rain during one of our sessions we had to train indoors. The pitch has become very bad and I wish the players will have a different boot which can help them if the competition starts and it keeps raining.”

The Black Princesses will engage in a low-profile friendly in Costa Rica on Friday, August 5, before the tournament kick starts on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.
