Ranieri revamps his squad

Fulham boss Claudio Ranieri completed the signing of Lazar Markovic from Liverpool on transfer deadline day.

The 24-year-old, who has signed a deal that will keep him at Craven Cottage until the end of the season, joined Liverpool in the summer of 2014 for £20million from Benfica but, after making a good first impression at Anfield, drifted out of the first-team picture.

He started only 11 Premier League matches for the Reds and has been loaned to Fenerbahce, Sporting Lisbon, Hull City and Anderlecht in the last four seasons.

Markovic will be reunited with Aleksandar Mitrovic at Fulham as the two players starred for Partizan Belgrade earlier in their careers.

On a busy last day of the transfer window at the club, Ranieri signed the former West Ham United player Havard Nordtveit on loan from Hoffenheim and sent Stefan Johansen to West Brom and Aboubakar Kamara to Turkish side Yeni Malatyaspor on loan for the remainder of the season.

Meanwhile, the Fulham boss has played down the absence of the suspended Wilfried Zaha when the Cottagers visit Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Zaha was sent off in the closing stages of the Eagles' 1-1 draw at Southampton on Wednesday, but Ranieri said: "Zaha is a very good player but they have other very, very good players and Roy [Hodgson] can choose his line-up very well.

"There are so many good players there. Crystal Palace is not only Zaha. He's one of their best players, but it's not only him."

Fulham, who came from behind to beat Brighton 4-2 on Tuesday, are available at 3/1 to win the London derby at Selhurst Park and at 14/1 to win the match from behind.
