Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer open to playing for Black Meteors at U-23 AFCON

Hamburger SV attacker Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer says he is open to playing for Ghana’s U-23 national team, the Black Meteors, at the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations(AFCON) in June.

The 21-year-old has found it difficult to get minutes in the Black Stars since switching nationality from Germany to Ghana in 2022 ahead of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Black Meteors booked their spot at the 2023 U-23 AFCON after beating Algeria 2-1 on aggregate over the two final round qualifying games.

Head coach Ibrahim Tanko had earlier made known the technical team’s plan of calling more foreign-based players to help the team.

Speaking to Ghanaweb in an interview, the former Germany youth player left his options opened to representing Ghana at the Olympic qualifying tournament.

“Maybe if they call me. I don’t know when the tournament is, but we never know.”

Yeboah was named in Ghana’s senior squad for the AFCON qualifiers against Angola but was an unused substitute in the two games.

He made his debut for the Black Stars in the 3-0 defeat to Brazil last year.
