Ghana defender Andy Yiadom has expressed his satisfaction following Reading's 1-1 draw against Barnsley in the English Championship on Saturday.

Yiadom put up an impressive display as he helped the Royals grabbed a late equaliser to prevent relegation rivals Barnsley from claiming a vital victory.

Carlton Morris gave the home side an early lead in the 5th minute of the game but Josh Laurent fired home from Michael Morrison's pass to give Reading what could be a crucial point.

“We’ve got a point on the board, it’s better than a loss and I think we could have got all three points looking at the game overall,” said Yiadom as quoted by readingfc.co.uk.

“But we’ll take the point and we’ve got a home game Tuesday so we’re going to recover and prepare for that game.

“I think the main thing was to come here and not lose but like I said we could have got three points, but they scored early and we pushed and we managed to equalise.

“Apart from the goal they scored I think we defended well, Orjan didn’t have much to do and we could have scored a few at the other end.”

He added, "He’s scored two in two so he is doing really well to be fair,” Yiadom continued.

“The goal was definitely coming, I think Tom Ince had a couple of chances, Lucas had a shot that was blocked.... I really think we could actually have got all three points.

“We got a point, which is better than a loss, we came here and we didn’t lose, It’s tough coming to a place like this and we’ll take the point, and we’ll rest and recover and then play again on Tuesday.”.

“The fans were on it! When we were 1-0 down at half-time they gave us it a bit and we came back out in the second half and got the equaliser. I think they were pleased, and it was great support from them," he continued.

“These games are massive but we take it a day at a time and we have to do what we have to do to get the points on the board.

“Everyone is focused and we are going to go out there Tuesday to get three points.”

“I don’t want to get relegated, no one at the club does, so we’ve got to do everything we can to keep this club in the Championship. That is what I am going to try and do and that is what all the boys in the changing room are going to do as well.”
