Real Madrid 3-2 Deportivo: Sergio Ramos Scores Late Winner as Los Blancos Make History

Real Madrid set a club record of 35 games unbeaten with a dramatic injury-time winner over Deportivo La Coruna, courtesy of captain Sergio Ramos.


Alvaro Morata had given the home side an early second half lead, but a quickfire double from Deportivo substitute Joselu put the away side on the brink of a shock win.


But Real youngster Mariano Diaz levelled the scores after 84 minute, before Ramos popped up once again to score what could be a crucial goal come the end of the season.

Zinedine Zidane optedto make seven changes from the team that drew with Borussia Dortmund in midweekwithKarim Benzema, Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo not involved.

The absence of some of Real's big name players was certainly noticeable, with Deportivo restricting the league leadersto just the occasional half chance in the opening exchanges.


James Rodriguez had the best chance of the half for Real just before the 30 minutemark, but tamely hit his shotstraight at the keeper having been sent clear on goal.


Surprisingly, it wasthe visitors thatcame closest to opening the scoring when midfielder Celso Borges wasdenied by the post afterclimbing highest in the penalty area to meet a free kick.


Real came out with more attacking intent in the second half and were soon in frontcourtesy of a superb strike from Morata. The Spanish striker received the ball from compatriot Isco, turned on to his right foot, and emphaticallyfired into the bottom corner from 25 yards.

But the Bernabeu wasstunned into silenceby two Deportivo goals in as many minutes, substitute Joselu scoring both to give the lowly away side what had seemed an unimaginable lead.

Toni Kroos came close to quickly levelling the scores, but his effort was well blocked by Deportivo captain Sidnei.


An excellent looping header from Real substitute Mariano seemed to havesaved Real's blushes, however, the youngster guiding home Lucas Vazquez's pinpoint to equalise.


And with the game seemingly heading for a draw, centre back Ramos scored a late, late winner to maintain his side's unbeaten start to the season.


The victory meant that Real restored their six point lead at the top of La Liga after Barcelona had beaten Osasuna 3-0 earlier in the day.
