Real Madrid Captain Admits He Can't Help But Take Pleasure From Seeing Barcelona Lose

Sergio Ramos has admitted that he doesn't like to see Real Madrid's bitter rivals Barcelona win football matches following the latter's Champions League drubbing to Paris Saint-Germain.

In what must be the most obvious statement of all time, Los Blancos' club captain revealed that he was somewhat pleased to see the Catalan giants receive a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of PSG in Tuesday's last-16 clash.

The centre back, who made his 500th appearance for Real in their 3-1 victory over Napoli in their own Champions League knockout stage first leg encounter on Wednesday, tempered his admission by saying he didn't like to see his friends at Barcelona lose, but couldn't help but stick the knife in where La Blaugrana were concerned.

He told ESPN: "I won't say no (to seeing Barca lose). I don't like to see my friends suffer, but obviously I don't like Barcelona to win."

Goals from Edinson Cavani and Julian Draxler, as well as a brace from Ramos' former Real team-mate Angel Di Maria, have seemingly put paid to Barca's chances of progressing to the quarter-final stage of the Champions League, and Ramos stated that he was not surprised to see the Argentina international net against Luis Enrique's men at the Parc de Princes.

He continued: "I wasn't [surprised]. What it means is that in Champions League any team pays for a bad game. PSG did a great game, and put pressure on them from the front."

Ramos' fifth century of appearances for Zinedine Zidane's charges was brought to a premature end after he limped off the field with 19 minutes of the clash with Napoli to go.

Asked what was the reason for his withdrawal from the Bernabeu pitch, Ramos added that he had picked up a knock that he hoped would not keep him out of action for too long.

The Spain international said: "I suffered a blow and I hurt my hip and adductor. I held on as I could until I thought the result was good, to wait for the tests. Hopefully it's not anything muscular."
