Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos says he's drawing inspiration from Fabio Cannavaro as he seeks Ballon d'Or recognition.

Speaking with Marca, Ramos admits earning a place on the dais is something he is targeting.

"If it's crazy to think I can win the Ballon d'Or? It depends. You should know what to do to win this award. In recent years, Leo (Messi) and Cristiano have shared the Ballon d'Or, but, for example Fabio Cannavaro, who was my teammate, won it," said Ramos.

"And yet you do not see him as a madman. I've done some very nice things in my career and being in the top three would already be a reward. And if I win the Ballon d'Or it would be historic."
