Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane feels their crisis this season was setup over last summer's transfer window.

Real are enduring one of the worst campaigns in their modern history, with Zidane fighting to keep hold of his job.

Diario Gol says four young signings last summer were not made on Zidane's request: Jesús Vallejo, Borja Mayoral, Marcos Llorente and Dani Ceballos.

The Frenchman also feels his transfer requests were either ignored or not pursued with genuine intent.

Aymeric Laporte (now of Manchester City), Leonardo Bonucci (AC Milan) and Marquinhos (PSG) were all requested by Zidane, while he also wanted Paul Pogba signed ahead of Manchester United and is facing push-back over his wish for Chelsea star Eden Hazard.

It's suggested should their break up at the end of this season prove messy, Zidane will go public over how he was constantly over-ruled in his transfer requests during his three seasons in charge.
