Real Madrid left back Marcelo has moved swiftly to deny suggestions that he favours compatriot Neymar, over club teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
Both players celebrated their respective birthday's last Sunday as Neymar turned 25, whilst2016 Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldohit 32.
As is the case these days, many players took to social media to send their best wishes to the duo, but such is the mad world we live in, Marcelo came under-fire from sections of the Los Blancos faithful who were unhappy that he had wished Barcelona's Neymar a Happy Birthday ahead of Ronaldo.
Understandably Marcelo was upset at such accusations of favouritism and being disrespectful towards his club teammate, so much so, that he gave a pretty clear cut message to those upset by the trivial matter.
He wrote on Instagram:Shut the f*** up idiots.�
Let's be honest, whoever Marcelo chose to send his best wishes to first, he would have upset some supporters whether that be at the Bernabeu or in his native Brazil,but it just goes to show that the Barcelona-Real Madrid rivalry is so fierce that even something as simple as a Happy Birthday can land someone in hot water.
