Real Tamale United players boycott training over unpaid entitlements

Players of Real Tamale United boycotted training on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 over unpaid entitlements ahead of their Ghana Premier League game against Heart of Lions this weekend.

With two games into the second half of the campaign, the complained bitterly over their unpaid bonuses and salary arrears and decided not to show up for training few days to their game against Heart of Lions.

The players trained for just two days before their opening game in the second round against Hearts of Oak, where they succumbed to a 3-0 defeat at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The leadership of the club promised to settle all arrears after their game against Bofoakwa Tano at the weekend. The team shared the spoils against their opponent in that game.

After failing to honour promise, the players decided not to train due to outstanding bonuses and salaries.

The Tamale-based club is struggling in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign and must play above themselves to survive at the end of the season.

They are currently bottom on the league table after 19 matches into the season, with just 18 points.
