Referee Alphonsus Atiapah has heaped praise on fans who turned up at the Baba Yara stadium to watch the 2019 President Cup between Asante Kotoko and Hearts.

The two most successful clubs in Ghana locked horns with each other as the Porcupine Warriors earned the bragging rights at end of the game.

Coach Maxwell Konadu's side came from a goal down to beat the Phobians 2-1 as they clinched their sixth President Cup title.

Kofi Kordzi gave Hearts the lead through the spot kick in the 37th minute of the game.

Kotoko equalised courtesy an own from Aminu Alhassan on the stroke of half time before Naby Keita bagged the match winner in the second-half to hand the Reds the win.

Atiapah, who was the centre referee of the game was impressed with the quality of football the teams displayed despite poor attendance at the stadium.

"First of all I just have to commend the entire football family for their swift response to the message from the Ghana FA. The love indeed is coming back and might even come back stronger back than before. I personally liked the way fans turned out in numbers and the quality of football from both teams. It was a good exercise and a sign of good things to come", Atiapah Alphonsus told 442gh.com after the game.
