Referee Joseph Kenny Padi, the official that handled the Asante Kotoko v Hearts of Oak second leg of the Super Clash in the Ghana Premier League has been suspended for the rest of the reason.

He has been found guilty of awarding a dubious penalty kick to Asante Kotoko when the team hosted their rivals at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on April 10.

That incident changed the game as the hosts capitalised on the spot-kick to earn a narrow 1-0 win against Hearts of Oak.

After a review of the incident by the Ghana FA Match Review Panel, it has been established that there was no penalty kick to be awarded.

For his punishment, referee Kenny Padi has been suspended for the rest of the 2021/22 football season.

“The Panel concluded that per the video watched, and the referee's defense is in contrast.

“Per the video watched the Panel holds the view that the referee erred in awarding the penalty.

“This error changed the outcome of the match. Therefore, the Referee Joseph Kenny Padi is suspended for the rest of the season. This includes all GFA-organized matches,” a statement from the Ghana FA said on Wednesday.
