According to growing reports, the Executive Chairman for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Dr. Kwame Kyei is set to contest in the upcoming Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential elections.

The news comes barely 24 hours after members of the GFA Congress agreed to adopt the new statutes proposed by the Normalization Committee (NC) put together by FIFA and the government of Ghana to reform football in the country.

What that means is that the football community is approaching an election period to select a new president to take over the vacant seat left by Lawyer Kwesi Nyantakyi.

According to Asempa FM Sports, Dr. Kwame Kyei is ready to go head to head with other top football administrators to vie for the top job at the Ghana Football Association.

If he does go-ahead to pick up nomination forms when it is made available, the Kotoko chairman will likely face competition from George Afriyie, Winfred Osei, Kurt Okraku, Fred Pappoe and Nana Yaw Amponsah who have all confirmed their readiness to contest for the seat.

Besides being in charge of the Porcupine Warriors, Dr. Kwame Kyei is also the CEO of Unity Oil Company Limited, Light FM, Light TV, Vision1 FM, Sports Hotel and the Sports Recreational Centre.
