Report: West Brom still interested in Jeffrey Schlupp

The Birmingham Mail has reported that West Bromwich Albion remain interested in signing Leicester City winger Jeffrey Schlupp, but Tony Pulis has somewhat dampened talk of a move.

The Mail reports that the Baggies attempted to sign the 23-year-old during the summer, and made three bids - the last of which was worth £12m - for the Ghana international.

But despite Schlupp being interested in a switch to the Hawthorns, the Mail reports that Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri blocked the deal.

And while the Mail adds that West Brom remain keen on a move, Pulis has looked to play down talk of a switch by suggesting that he appears to be an important player at the King Power Stadium.

"He played on Wednesday [in the Champions League] so I don't see him being sold if he is in the team," he said, as reported by the Mail.

Pulis will be hoping that West Brom's inability to land Schlupp during the summer does not come back to haunt them when they face Leicester in the Premier League today.

The Ghanaian international has struggled for games, but as Pulis alluded to, he has come back into the fold a little more lately, so may well feature, and may be looking to prove why the Baggies were willing to pay £12m to sign him.
