Rev. Osei Kofi reveals why Ghanaian clubs exit CAF inter-club competitions at the early stage

Former Black Stars attacker, Rev Osei Kofi has attributed what he says is the low standard of the Ghanaian leagues as the reason why clubs exit CAF’s inter-club competitions early when they participate.

Ghanaian clubs in recent years have struggled to compete with the best clubs on the continent. Teams that represent the country in the CAF Champions League or the Confederations Cup end up being booted out at the preliminary stages.

Those who do well only get to the group stages and are sent home packing at the end of that phase as well.

Speaking to West FM, Rev. Osei Kofi says clubs from Ghana fail to excel in Africa because of the low standard of the league in the country.

“The low standard of our league always brings the early exit of our clubs from Africa competitions”, the former Asante Kotoko attacker said.

Kotoko and Ashanti Gold represented Ghana in the last edition of the CAF inter-club competitions but they both failed to advance into the Group Stage.
