REVEALED: Arsenal plan swoop for French trio

Arsene Wenger is planning on a major swoop for three of his countryman this summer.

According to The Mirror, the Arsenal manager is keen on signing Monaco pair Thomas Lemar and Kylian Mbappe and Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette.

Mbappe, 18, has become the most sought after young player in the world, with a host of big European clubs after his signature. Mbappe's teammate, Lemar, is also highly regarded after scoring 19 goals as a winger for Monaco last season.

Lacazette is viewed as an ideal signing for the Gunners given his versatility and goal-scoring prowess. The 25-year old netted 37 goals in all competitions for Lyon last season.

However, Wenger's ambitious plans rest on whether he can convince the three players to join Arsenal without the opportunity of playing in the Champions League next season; as well as the contract situations of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.

Wenger arguably changed the nature of English football with his purchase of foreign players early in his 21-year reign, most notably from his home nation, France.

Les Blues stars such as Thierry Henry, Patrick Viera, Robert Pires and Emanuel Petit played pivotal roles in Arsenal's dominant era between the late 1990's to early 2000's.

And now it seems the Frenchman is trying to emulate that success by recruiting some of the best young French talent from Ligue 1.
