REVEALED: Kim Grant lied to Hearts of Oak management over possession of UEFA License A certificate

Coach Kim Grant was sacked from his position as Hearts of Oak first-team coach and director for football because he lied to the club’s management over possession of UEFA License A certificate, reports have revealed.

The gaffer was appointed in 2018 but was relieved of his post after a year when the Phobians lost their first match of the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League season.

His axing from his position came as a bit of surprise to many who believed that he was up to something good with the kind of team he had built during his stay with the team.

Explaining what led to his sacking, an official of Hearts of Oak who spoke to Graphic Sports on condition of anonymity said it largely had to do with the fact that he failed to produce a Uefa License A certificate that he assured the board of the club of having.

After a long wait and the start of the Ghana Premier League, his employers had no choice than to let him go to avoid sanction from the Club Licensing Board which was demanding for Kim Grant’s license.

“Initially, he told us he has a License B and that he has sat and passed the examination for the License A, and based on that, he was giving the job thinking that within a short period he would get the certificate.

“Then a whole year past, no certificate has come and later he told us that there was something he still has to do and he has done that now and within 30 days the certificate will come,” the Hearts officials explained to the

“Based on that, the FA also gave him the benefit of the doubt. Now the certificate hasn’t come and a couple of days ago the FA wrote to us that if by the end of this month the certificate A doesn’t come then Hearts shall be sanctioned”, a club official told Graphic Sports.

The source added, “It would be stupid on our [Hearts management] part to sit down unconcerned so we had to take a decision than to wait for the whole club to be sanctioned”.
