Manchester City chose Wilfried Bony over Paulo Dybala two years ago, it has been revealed.

The Mirror says City could have signed the Argentine ace for £30million – but decided to buy Bony from Swansea City instead.

City sporting director Txiki Begiristain ordered an in-depth look at Dybala at the time.

But then he sanctioned a £28m move for Bony after being persuaded by boss Manuel Pellegrini that Swansea's Ivory Coast international would provide the firepower to help City retain the Premier League title.

Dybala moved to Juventus the following summer when the Turin giants paid Palermo £30m and has since developed into one of the hottest prospects in world football.

Juve have now made it clear that it would take an offer in excess of £100m to get them to part with Dybala.
