“Stephen Appiah has been an inspiration to me to the extent that I had to take the name Stephen,” he told Kumasi-based Nyira FM

“My real name is Yaw Oduro but when I came in contact with Appiah he changed my perception about a lot of things and I decided to take his first name just like people sometimes call themselves Ronaldo, Messi and Ronney.”

Stephen Oduro is still an integral member of the current Kumasi Asante Kotoko squad. He has been with the Porcupine Warriors for the past decade.
