Richie Laryea absent from Toronto FC CCL match squad vs Cruz Azul

Published on: 27 April 2021

As if the first leg match against Cruz Azul—who are actually in first place overall in Liga MX—wasn't difficult enough, Toronto FC will have to play the first 90 minutes without potentially their MVP so far this season, Richie Laryea.

According to OneSoccer's Oliver Platt, Richie Laryea, along with a few other names, were left off Toronto FC's 23-man match squad vs Cruz Azul.

To put this in perspective, clubs must send their final match roster of 23 players (with a minimum of 18) to Concacaf no later than 44 hours before the start of each match.

Richie Laryea, is not eligible to partake in Tuesday’s match due to suspension as a result of yellow card accumulation.

Toronto FC vs Cruz Azul starts at 10:00 pm EST on Tuesday, April 27.

The second leg is set for May 4 at Mexico City's iconic Estadio Azteca.
